Do you find yourself stressing out about work? Is your job not promoting you quickly enough? Do you wish that you weren’t so emotionally invested in your career? If you are working for someone who does not appreciate you, or even if you are appreciated, you should read these 3 reasons why you should not be devoted to your job.

1. Your job is a means to an end, not the end to a means. You can not effectively define your worth by the avenue in which you create income for yourself. The work you do is the magic you perform in the world. You can do more than one magic trick. Your skills are your wand.

2. Your company may be treating you very well. They may be offering you a grand salary and all of the benefits you can handle BUT you have to remember that you are not your company’s priority. You are a tool for them to achieve their profit goals. If you ever stop being a tool for the achievement of their goals, they will not value you and you will be discarded. Their bottom line is self preservation. Make that your bottom line too. You are a tool. Be a tool to build your own dream.

3. Are you one of My Savvy Sisters?  If so, you probably don’t even need to read this article. If you are not one of them YET, you have to understand that entrepreneurship is our main focus on this site. We encourage every woman to create income for herself independent of a 9 to 5 or a high ranking position at someone else’s company. If your name is not on the building you should not devote your entire life to the business.

You have the ability to own your own business.  What you don’t know right now you can learn along the way. Don’t be afraid to let go, to lose a little and to rebuild. Create your own foundation and stand on your own two feet. You don’t have to hide behind someone else’s logo anymore.

You are a business waiting to happen.

You can do it.
