At 34, Kelly Mayhew had already invested in 5 butt enhancements. The Maryland woman had to have just one more and she sought out a friend to help her find a new doctor to administer one final injection, which proved to be fatal.
According to The New York Daily News, Kelly’s mother accompanied her on the trip to New York where she would receive the butt enhancement injections in a basement apartment. Moments after the doctor administered the silicone injections, Kelly showed signs that she was struggling to breathe, her mother told police.
Her mother began performing CPR and instead of calling the police, the doctor grabbed her keys and fled in a gray SUV.
Kelly, a freelancer for the BET Networks, was taken to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital where she died.
“Our heart goes out to her family and we extend our deepest sympathies for their loss,” BET spokesman Jamie Owens said in a statement.
The doctor in question has yet to be identified and the friend who arranged the procedure will not answer calls from the family.
