CNN reports that the King of Saudi Arabia is now allowing women to vote and hold office in future elections. This is a landmark achievement for Saudi women who have rallied for women’s rights.
Women in Saudi Arabia are not allowed to drive nor travel freely without male guardians. Earlier this year when Saudi Arabia elections took place, groups of women showed up to cast their votes but were turned away. Another group of women who are called pioneers of the “Saudi Women Revolution” defied tradition by taking to the streets in cars to protest their disgust with the laws.
